Does Moissanite Have Inclusions?
When shopping for a diamond ring, lots of terms are mentioned: clarity, inclusions, colour, carat… but people often ask us: does Moissanite have inclusions too?
Moissanites do in fact have inclusions and clarity gradings. In this blog post, we’re going to go into more detail about Moissanite clarity and inclusions, and why it’s so important to choose a high quality gemstone.
Clarity grade refers to the number of imperfections that a stone has. These are referred to as inclusions. Ranging from F (Flawless) through to I (Included), the best looking diamonds and Moissanites are ones with the least inclusions as these appear clean and clear, allowing for maximum sparkle. The less imperfections of course, the more expensive the stone. The chart below illustrates the gradings of clarity and what each level of inclusions looks like.
At The Moissanite Company, our Moissanites have a clarity grading of VVS1 - Very Very Slightly Included. These minimal imperfections are not visible to the naked eye. Similarly, the ideal clarity for diamonds is VVS1-VVS2, however due to the way diamonds are naturally formed and mined, having few to no inclusions in a diamond is rarer, and therefore much higher in price.
With Moissanites being lab-created in controlled conditions, exceptionally high clarity is achievable at an affordable price point. And as almost all Moissanite available on the market has a clarity grading of VS1-VVS1, rarity and competition is reduced which helps to maintain prices.
